Senate of the Oliy Majlis discusses measures to enhance the role of tourism in the economy

During the meeting, participants discussed measures aimed at further accelerating the development of the tourism sector and strengthening its role and contribution to the country’s economy.
As part of the session, Chairman of the Tourism Committee A. Akkulov presented a report on the reforms being implemented in the tourism sector and the results achieved.
According to the report, the services sector grew by nearly 17 percent during the first half of the year, with tourism services recording a significant increase in their share of the sector. It was also emphasized that tourism has steadily evolved into one of the strategic pillars of Uzbekistan’s national economy in recent years.
In addition, participants were provided with detailed information on the projects being implemented to bring the tourism industry to a new level of development. These initiatives include introducing modern management approaches, improving tourism infrastructure across the regions, attracting higher-spending visitors, and expanding promising tourism segments such as medical tourism, gastronomic tourism, MICE tourism, ecotourism, winter tourism, and adventure tourism.
