Further cooperation in the tourism sector discussed

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Bank in the development of the tourism sector, enhancement of the economic potential of the regions, and the creation of sustainable infrastructure.
It was noted during the negotiations that the implementation of tourism development goals outlined in the Uzbekistan–2030 Strategy is nearing completion, and the World Bank stands ready to support a number of projects by drawing on its international experience. The parties also exchanged views on the significance of the “Central Asian Tourism Ring” project proposed at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the development of tourism infrastructure. It was emphasized that state investment in this area has been steadily increasing in recent years, contributing to the creation of new tourism facilities, the expansion of services, and the growth of local incomes.
In addition, the parties discussed opportunities for organizing short-term educational programs jointly with the World Bank aimed at strengthening the capacity of regional tourism directorates, improving project management, ensuring financial sustainability, and introducing international best practices.
The sides also exchanged views on projects to establish a convenient navigation system for tourists, including the installation of 700 tourist road signs and navigation markers along major highways across the country, as well as the construction of modern service zones and visitor facilities.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation in supporting tourism as an important driver of economic growth, job creation, and comprehensive regional development, as well as to cooperate in the areas of infrastructure financing, institutional capacity building, and exchange of experience.
