The delegation of Uzbekistan is participating in the 72nd Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe

During the session, participants are discussing current trends in international tourism, digitalization processes, issues related to increasing tourist flows, as well as Uzbekistan’s initiative to develop the International Code for Safe Tourism and to organize the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism in 2027 at a high level. Representatives of European and other countries, international organizations, and tourism industry experts are participating in the event.
In his speech, A. Akkulov noted that, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the opening ceremony of the “2027 International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism” will be held in Uzbekistan. This initiative received unanimous support from all European countries. He also highlighted the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, including the modernization of tourism infrastructure and the development of new tourism destinations. Particular emphasis was placed on preserving ecological balance, safeguarding cultural heritage sites, and promoting tourism development with due consideration for the interests of local communities, which remain among the country’s key priorities.
In turn, the leadership of UN Tourism highly praised the attention being given to the development of tourism education in Uzbekistan, as well as the reforms being implemented in this area.
This visit is of great importance for further strengthening Uzbekistan’s international standing in the global tourism arena, establishing new partnerships, and studying advanced international experience in the industry. Following the event, priority areas for further cooperation among the participating countries are expected to be identified.
