The event was organized through the cooperation of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Organization of Turkic States, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, the Association of Umrah Tourism Organizations, and the Turkey Seyahat Acentaları Birliği (HUURSAD).
More than 50 representatives of leading Turkish travel agencies involved in organizing and expanding tourist flows to Uzbekistan, as well as industry specialists and partner organizations, took part in the presentation.
During the event, the concept of the “Umrah Plus Uzbekistan” project, its advantages, and its role in the development of pilgrimage tourism were presented in detail. In particular, it was noted that the project creates opportunities for citizens performing the Umrah pilgrimage to explore Uzbekistan’s sacred sites, historical landmarks, and modern tourism infrastructure.
In addition, the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the potential of pilgrimage tourism, and the reforms implemented in the tourism sector in recent years.
As part of the event, video materials showcasing the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Imam Bukhari Complex—both recently inaugurated at the initiative of the Head of State—were presented. It was emphasized that these sites reflect the country’s rich scholarly and educational heritage and are becoming key points of attraction for pilgrims and tourists.
Following the meeting, participants exchanged views and discussed promising proposals for further cooperation, the launch of new tourism routes, and increasing tourist flows. A memorandum on attracting tourists from Türkiye to Uzbekistan by the end of the year was also signed.
