“Asian Grand Prix 2026” — Another step in the development of MICE tourism in Uzbekistan

From March 23 to 29, the capital city of Tashkent is hosting the international tournament “Asian Grand Prix 2026”, organized by the International Backgammon Federation (IBF). This event is not only a sporting competition but also an important driver for the development of MICE tourism in Uzbekistan.
At the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, emphasized that hosting such international competitions plays a vital role in promoting intellectual games and strengthening friendship among nations. He noted that holding the “Asian Grand Prix 2026” in Tashkent contributes to attracting foreign visitors and showcases Uzbekistan’s capacity to organize high-level international events.
Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Umar Kremlev, President of the IBF (via video message), Avazjon Karimov, Deputy Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan, and Ravshan Dastirov, Vice President of the International Kurash Federation.
The tournament has brought together over 700 players and international guests from more than 60 countries, including Russia, Argentina, China, Turkey, United States, Italy, and others. The competition is officiated by 24 international referees, ensuring a high professional standard.
The event is being held at the modern AXELON Center, equipped with more than 180 gaming tables. The program includes 12 disciplines, marking a record for tournaments of this format. Live broadcasts and full media coverage have also been organized for spectators.
Major events like the “Asian Grand Prix 2026” contribute significantly to the development of infrastructure, the hotel industry, transport, and the service sector. The high level of organization and the conditions created for participants and guests once again demonstrate that Uzbekistan is a modern, open, and rapidly developing tourism destination.
