During the negotiations, it was noted that «Utair» currently operates direct flights from several Russian regions to key cities of Uzbekistan — Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Fergana. The main routes connect Uzbek cities with Vnukovo International Airport, as well as with the Russian cities of Tyumen and Surgut.
It was also noted during the meeting that in 2025 more than 984,000 tourists from the Russia visited Uzbekistan. Currently, more than 500 flights are operated weekly between the two countries, and work to further increase this number is actively ongoing.
Particular attention during the meeting was given to the growing demand from residents of the Siberian, Ural, Northwestern, and Far Eastern federal districts of Russia. Representatives of the delegation highlighted the strong interest of travelers from these regions in visiting Uzbekistan; however, the lack of direct air connections continues to constrain the growth of tourism.
Following the negotiations, the parties reached a preliminary agreement to establish a joint working group. Its task will be to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and develop concrete proposals for expanding the airline’s route network.
The main goal of this joint effort is to establish direct air connections between cities in Uzbekistan and Russian regions where the greatest unmet demand currently exists. Relevant ministries and agencies from both countries are expected to be involved in this work.
Expanding the geography of flights and increasing their frequency will significantly boost tourist flows, make travel more accessible for residents of remote Russian regions, and strengthen business and cultural ties between the two countries.
Both sides expressed confidence that the implementation of these agreements will elevate cooperation in the field of air transportation to a new level and contribute to achieving the goal of welcoming more than one million Russian tourists per year.
