During the meeting, the parties discussed strategies for broadly promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on international markets, showcasing the country’s historic cities, cultural heritage, and modern tourism infrastructure to a global audience. They also exchanged views on promoting national tourism products through international online booking platforms using Expedia Group’s advanced marketing tools and analytics capabilities.
The discussions highlighted that the visa-free regime for U.S. citizens creates additional opportunities to increase the flow of American tourists to Uzbekistan. Steps for the phased integration of national tourism services — including hotel accommodation, tour packages, and offerings from local tour operators — onto Expedia Group platforms were considered. The parties also reached a preliminary agreement on implementing joint PR campaigns to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism appeal internationally, leveraging the company’s global media and marketing capabilities.
Additionally, during talks with Jan Tissera, President of Amadeus IT Group, discussions focused on using global booking system data to develop inbound tourism to Uzbekistan, analyzing tourism trends based on aviation analytics, and implementing joint marketing campaigns in key European markets.
As a result of the negotiations under the Amadeus for Destinations initiative, a preliminary agreement was reached to digitally promote Uzbekistan’s tourism brand through a joint marketing campaign targeting the markets of Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Italy, and Spain.
