A series of meetings on the development of tourism in Uzbekistan held in Berlin

In particular, during a meeting with the Federal Government Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Tourism of Germany and Member of the Bundestag Christoph Ploß, the parties discussed the development of institutional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the tourism sector, the creation of favorable conditions for tourism exchanges, and the expansion of the presence of German tourism companies in the Uzbek market.
During negotiations with Ali Pasha Akbash, head of a Europe-based organization promoting Turkic–Islamic unity, the parties discussed the broad promotion of Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism potential among Muslim communities in European countries, the popularization of the country’s Islamic and cultural heritage, and the possibility of holding thematic events and presentations dedicated to Uzbekistan in the organization’s cultural centers. The sides also agreed to increase pilgrimage tourism flows from European countries, organize joint events, and arrange a press tour to Uzbekistan for members of the organization and media representatives.
At the meeting with Gino Leonardo, Founder and Managing Director of Private Palace Hotels & Resorts, discussions focused on attracting international operators to develop hotel infrastructure in Uzbekistan, including expanding cooperation in the premium and resort tourism segments. The parties also considered prospects for the renovation of historic buildings in Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva to transform them into boutique hotels, as well as the development of wellness and medical tourism.
In addition, during a meeting with the Vice President of Turkish Airlines, Ahmet Harun Basturk, issues related to the international promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, increasing inbound tourist flows, and stimulating tourism through the expansion of air connectivity were discussed. In particular, opportunities were explored for joint promotion of the destination through the airline’s international communication channels, strengthening cooperation with tourism businesses, expanding the route network, and increasing flight frequency.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Tourism Committee and Turkish Airlines, as well as to organize roadshows and B2B meetings involving tour operators, industry associations, and media representatives in priority markets for Uzbekistan, including Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Australia.
