Negotiations between Uzbekistan and UN Tourism held in Berlin

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development of sustainable tourism, strengthening cooperation between the private sector and Member States, engagement with UN institutions, capacity building, and institutional cooperation in the implementation of national tourism strategies.
In the course of the negotiations, the Secretary-General of UN Tourism noted that on February 2 of this year, the organization adopted a “Roadmap” to ensure the high-level implementation of the initiative proclaimed by the Head of State declaring 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism. She also expressed readiness for close cooperation with Uzbekistan in organizing events planned within the framework of this year. According to her, the development of sustainable and resilient tourism is a key driver of socio-economic growth and job creation. The parties further agreed to organize one of the official opening events of the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism 2027 in Uzbekistan at the end of the current year.
Following the meeting, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee invited the Secretary-General of UN Tourism to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. Both sides also expressed their readiness to jointly promote initiatives aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism sector and strengthening long-term cooperation.
