In line with the ongoing reforms initiated by the Head of State in the tourism sector — aimed at attracting investment, supporting entrepreneurship, and improving the regulatory framework — the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid a working visit to Khorezm region on January 29–30 of this year.
During the visit, the Chairman reviewed ongoing and prospective tourism projects in the region and held an open dialogue with representatives of the local tourism industry.
The event brought together members of the national working group as well as around 150 participants, including entrepreneurs, tour operators, artisans, guides, hotel and restaurant owners, and representatives of transport companies and other related fields. Participants from the Republic of Karakalpakstan’s tourism sector also took part in the meeting to discuss opportunities for regional development.
During the discussion, participants addressed key issues related to the development of tourism in the region, the effective use of Khorezm’s cultural and historical potential, infrastructure improvement, and enhancing the quality of tourism services.
Chairman A. Akkulov presented the results achieved in 2025 and outlined the main priorities for 2026. It was emphasized that the development of cultural, gastronomic, and family tourism remains among the most promising directions for the region, known for its rich heritage and unique traditions.
Participants noted that the existing government support measures — including tax incentives, subsidies, and grant programs — are contributing to the sustainable growth of the tourism sector.
Several proposals were also voiced regarding the creation of new tourism routes, modernization of infrastructure, and strengthening cooperation between government bodies and the private sector.
Representatives from both regions highlighted transport logistics as one of the main challenges in increasing tourist flows, underscoring the importance of expanding flight routes, improving road infrastructure, and developing roadside service facilities.
Based on the meeting’s outcomes, specific steps were identified to further promote Khorezm’s tourism potential both domestically and internationally, as well as to implement initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the region. Participants emphasized the relevance of such meetings, which serve as an effective platform for dialogue and for developing joint solutions in the field of tourism.
The next meeting within this series of open dialogues will take place on February 2 in Bukhara, at the RAMADA ENCORE BY WYNDHAM Hotel (47 Gijduvon Street, Yangibod MCG, Bukhara). For additional information, please contact G'olib Kenjayev — +99897 855-54-11.
