Forced Labor Is Not Permitted in Uzbekistan's Silk Industry

An online presentation was held at the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, with the participation of representatives of the U.S. Department of Labor, on the work being carried out in Uzbekistan to prevent child labor and forced labor in the silk industry.
During the presentation, information was provided on the development of Uzbekistan's silk industry, ensuring labor rights in the sector, and the measures taken and results achieved in eliminating child and forced labor.
In addition, information was presented on the work being carried out by the "Uzbekipaksanoat" association in the silk industry, the measures taken by the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction to protect labor rights and prevent forced labor, and the results of public oversight and monitoring conducted by the Federation of Trade Unions.
At the conclusion of the dialogue, issues related to the consistent continuation of efforts to ensure decent work principles and protect labor rights in Uzbekistan's silk industry were discussed.
