The State Center for Ecological Expertise reports the following:
— On July 24, 2025, a positive conclusion (No. 01-02/01-4994) of the State Environmental Expertise was obtained regarding the project for the construction of the electrified Samarkand–Urgut railway line developed by Uzbekistan Railways JSC. According to this conclusion, the planned route does not pass through the territory of the Zarafshan National Nature Park, but is located along the course of the Zarafshan River. The shortest distance from the railway line axis to the boundary of the national park is 400 meters;
— During the project development, the hydrological features of the Zarafshan River, the location of unique natural complexes, and the interests of the local population were taken into account. To preserve biodiversity, the construction of at least two special crossings (bridges) ensuring the safe migration of wild animals is envisaged;
— The creation of a full-fledged migration corridor for Bukhara deer (Hangul) remains one of the priority directions of government activity. At present, additional research and coordination work are being carried out with the participation of scientific institutions;
— To ensure transparency and take into account public opinion, public hearings were held with the participation of local government bodies, community representatives, and citizens;
— Construction works are being carried out in strict compliance with the current environmental, nature protection, and other legislative norms of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the authorized ministries and agencies are continuously monitoring the railway construction process in order to minimize and prevent possible impacts on the ecosystem of the Zarafshan National Nature Park.
