The work is being carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of environmental expertise and environmental impact assessment.
The Expert Group includes national experts from Uzbekistan, as well as specialists from the State Educational Institution “Republican Center for State Environmental Expertise, Training, Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel” under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus. The involvement of international experts will help take into account international experience in the environmental assessment of nuclear energy facilities.
The Expert Group is conducting a comprehensive analysis of the EIA materials, including the assessment of the project’s impact on atmospheric air, water resources, soil, flora and fauna, as well as the study of hydrogeological and seismological aspects.
Special attention is being paid to issues related to the prevention of environmental pollution, minimization of potential negative impacts, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed environmental protection measures.
Members of the Expert Group visited the site of the planned nuclear power plant located in the Farish district of Jizzakh region. During the field visit, the natural and climatic, hydrological, and geomorphological characteristics of the territory relevant to the environmental assessment of the project were studied.
In addition, proposals and comments received during public hearings will also be considered as part of the state environmental expertise process.
Following the completion of the Expert Group’s work, a state environmental expertise conclusion will be prepared, including recommendations and mandatory environmental requirements for the further implementation of the project.
