During many years, equipping the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan with military and dual-use products was carried out by importing foreign states in such a strategic direction as ensuring the military security of the state.

At the new stage of the country's development, in November 2017, on the personal initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the defense industry was created - an authorized body of state administration responsible for the implementation of a unified state policy in the field of formation of state defense orders and defense production organization.

Over the past two years, the Goskomoboronprom has been carrying out targeted work to develop the country's industrial potential in the field of production of military and dual-use products, as well as equipping the national army with modern weapons and military equipment, special means, as well as certain types of foodstuffs.

In particular, military-technical cooperation has been established with twenty leading countries of the world, six intergovernmental commissions function, more than ten Agreements and Memorandums of cooperation in the military-technical sphere with foreign partners are signed. On a systematic basis, modern weapons, military equipment and military equipment are being acquired for the needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In order to equip the Armed Forces with military and dual-use products during 2018-2019. On the basis of domestic enterprises, a number of intersectoral projects for the development and production of trucks and special vehicles based on KamAZ, military radio equipment, personal protective equipment for respiratory organs, individual rations for military personnel (“dry rations”) and other products were implemented.

In addition, overhaul, reconstruction and technological re-equipment of SE «CHARZ» were carried out, as a result of which the scope of services provided by the enterprise was expanded. In particular, a full repair cycle of Mi family helicopters has been established, major overhaul of Su-25 aircraft is being mastered.

A joint Uzbek-Turkish enterprise for the production of military uniforms was created. Starting from the second quarter of 2020, the enterprise is expected to be launched at full capacity.

It should be noted that in 2020 it is planned to double the indicators for the production of military and dual-use products.

To strengthen the country's defense potentials, the Implementation of the Plan of Practical Activities (the «Road Map») for the development of the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2025 is currently underway.
