Major projects launched, construction of new facilities begins in the Samarkand region

At the event, an exhibition showcased products from the region’s food, light, chemical and pharmaceutical, construction, metalworking, and furniture industries. The Head of State reviewed modern production facilities, advanced equipment and technologies, as well as a range of industrial products.

The Samarkand region continues to develop as a key economic hub of the country. In recent years, industrial output has grown steadily, while a favorable business and investment climate has created a solid foundation for attracting both domestic and foreign investment. The annual increase in the number of enterprises with foreign capital clearly confirms the positive dynamics in this area.

At the ceremony, readiness was announced to launch and begin construction of 106 new projects across cities and districts, with a total value of nearly $7 billion. The heads of projects under construction and being launched joined the event via video link.

These projects cover various sectors of the regional economy. In particular, it is planned to commission new facilities and begin the construction of promising projects in the mining and geological industry, the production of building materials, and the automotive, chemical, electrical, and agricultural sectors, as well as in the spheres of education, healthcare, services, and tourism.

At the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke with project implementers and representatives of local and foreign companies, and listened to their proposals and initiatives. It was noted that such projects will play an important role in strengthening the industrial potential of the Samarkand region, modernizing production sectors, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

By pressing a symbolic button, the Head of State launched the operation of major projects and the construction of new facilities in the Samarkand region.

In particular, 53 projects worth $2.4 billion have been launched in cooperation with Austria, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, and Russia.

Additionally, construction work has been initiated on 53 projects worth $4.6 billion in cooperation with the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, and Iran.

The implementation of these projects are expected to create 18,000 new jobs, ensure the production of industrial goods worth 13 trillion soums, and generate an export potential of $700 million. This will contribute to the diversification of the regional industry, the development of modern production chains, and the further expansion of export geography.

The President was also presented with information on ongoing efforts and future plans to improve water resource management in the Narpay district, including the transfer of pumping station management under a public-private partnership.

In the Narpay district, eight pumping stations have been transferred to the private sector under a public-private partnership (PPP). Over the past period, 21 pumping units have been upgraded with investments totaling 12.3 billion soums, reducing annual electricity consumption from 68.1 million to 34.1 million kilowatt-hours.

Overall, new scientific approaches are being introduced in water management across the Samarkand region. For these purposes, a scientific advisor has been appointed to the regional khokim to strengthen the integration of science and practice. In addition, dual education is being introduced in the sector, including six-month continuous internships for 72 students in water management, agricultural mechanization, hydraulic engineering and hydropower, cadaster, and ecology.

The Head of State instructed relevant officials to continue this work in a consistent and systematic manner.
