In recent years, the industry has attracted $35 billion in foreign investment, and 9,000 megawatts of new capacity has been commissioned.
As a result, electricity production increased from 60 billion kilowatt-hours in 2017 to 85 billion kilowatt-hours this year. Notably, the capacity of solar and wind power plants currently in operation is approximately 5,000 megawatts, while hydroelectric power plants account for 400 megawatts.
From January to November of this year, $8.8 billion in foreign investment was invested in the fuel and energy sector, including $6.3 billion in electric power, $4.7 billion in green energy projects, and $2.5 billion in the oil and gas sector.
In 2025, 58 major projects with a total value of $40.5 billion are planned for launch. These include five solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,413 MW, four wind power plants with a capacity of 752 MW, six hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 168 MW, three thermal power plants with a total capacity of 1,167.3 MW, and ten energy storage facilities with a total capacity of 1,245 MW.
In preparation for the autumn-winter season, 787 km of main and 29,500 km of distribution networks, transformers at nine main substations, and 10,270 transformer stations were overhauled in the regions.
