Consistent work is being carried out in the country in the field of environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, improvement of the sanitary and environmental situation.
In order to determine the priority areas of state policy in the field of environmental protection, the introduction of effective mechanisms for the prevention, detection and suppression of violations of environmental legislation, strengthening the personal responsibility of the heads of state bodies and business entities, citizens for the sanitary and environmental condition of the settlements of the republic, as well as ensuring the achievement of National goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development for the period up to 2030, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 30, 2019 No. PF-5863, the Concept of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 was approved.
This Concept is being implemented in stages on the basis of separately approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan for a three-year period of "road maps" based on the results achieved, targets and main directions of environmental protection for the corresponding period.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. DP-4291 dated 17.04.2019, the Strategy for Solid Waste Management in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2028 was approved.
On September 24, 2024, the Presidential Resolution "On priority measures to combat dust storms and improve air quality" was adopted. According to the document, the National Program for Combating Dust Storms and Mitigating Their Negative Consequences in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2024-2030 was approved.
On November 25, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 783 "On measures to reduce the harmful impact of industrial enterprises on the environment." In accordance with this resolution 347 small automated stations for background monitoring of atmospheric air pollution will be installed throughout the republic. The new resolution approved the address list of these stations. In order to carry out high-quality monitoring of environmental pollution sources, automatic monitoring stations for emissions from sources of atmospheric air pollution will be installed on business entities belonging to categories I and II according to the degree of environmental impact. Highly efficient dust and gas cleaning equipment and local water treatment facilities will be installed in these places, as well as existing ones will be modernized. Sanitary protection zones will be equipped with automatic stationary observation posts.
Measures are being consistently taken in the republic to create and build up a mineral resource base for mining and processing industries, and construction industry enterprises. An increase in the reserves of precious and rare earth metals, agrochemical and mining raw materials, building materials, fresh and mineral underground waters is ensured.
Over the past period, the republic has carried out a targeted implementation of a number of comprehensive measures to improve the efficiency of the use and protection of subsoil, ensure the rational use of mineral resources, as well as create conditions for the organization of modern industrial production in the regions.
A unified geological service has been created to carry out the state policy in the field of integrated geological study of the subsoil, the effective implementation of programs for the development and reproduction of the mineral resource base in the long term.
In order to put into practice the results of scientific research in the field of geology, to widely use modern teaching methods, to fundamentally improve the system for training highly qualified personnel, as well as to ensure at the required level a close relationship between education, science and practice in the field of geology, to create favorable conditions for the process of real integration geosciences, including its fundamental areas and practice, the University of Geological Sciences is defined as a scientific cluster that ensures the integration of education, science and practice in the field of geology, as well as the basic higher educational institution of the republic for the training of qualified personnel and coordination of research work.
