EU Special Representative for Central Asia Praises Fergana Peace Forum

At the beginning of the conversation, Mr. Eduards Stiprais highlighted the high level of organization of the Peace Forum held in Fergana. He emphasized that, thanks to the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, friendly, good-neighborly, and mutually beneficial relations between the Central Asian countries have been significantly strengthened, and interregional ties have entered a new stage of strategic partnership.
During the meeting, it was noted that cooperation with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is steadily developing, interregional relations have intensified, and most border-related issues have been resolved. It was emphasized that peace and harmony in the region are becoming important factors in the development of the states.
The sides also recalled that during the first “Central Asia — European Union” Summit held in April this year in Samarkand, a number of important agreements on key issues were reached.
Governor Khayrullo Bozorov emphasized that in recent years, multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union has been rapidly developing in political, trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
In particular, it was noted that Fergana region is actively implementing joint projects with European countries in the fields of education, healthcare, migration, and trade-investment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further expanding interregional cooperation with the European Union.
