Governor of Fergana Region Receives German Delegation

During the meeting, it was noted that the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Germany are steadily developing in various spheres. The historical roots of cooperation and high-level official visits between the leaders of the two countries have elevated bilateral relations to a new level. Germany’s achievements in science and technology were also acknowledged. The governor provided information about successful joint projects and economic cooperation. He highlighted that over 130 ethnic groups live peacefully in Uzbekistan and that their rights are fully protected. In particular, more than 8,000 citizens of German ethnicity live happily in the country. A “House of Friendship” has been established in the center of Fergana city, offering all necessary conditions for national cultural centers. The “Wiedergeburt” German National Cultural Center, founded in 1990, currently hosts 14 clubs for youth activities in various areas. It was emphasized that the Uzbekistan–Germany Friendship Society plays an important role in preserving and promoting German culture and traditions, with favorable social and cultural conditions created for this purpose. It was especially noted that nearly 500 representatives of the German ethnic minority reside in Fergana Region and actively contribute to the development of the country. The discussion also touched on the fact that young people from Fergana are studying the German language and some are working and improving their qualifications in Germany. “I witnessed that German nationals in Uzbekistan, particularly in Fergana, live freely and prosperously. The conditions created for them are commendable. I am ready to support the development of cooperation between Fergana Region and Germany in the future,” stated the head of the German delegation, Bernd Fabritius. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation based on the proposals discussed. Deputy Governor for Public and Religious Affairs, Burhon Quldashev, also took part in the meeting.
