2024-04-09 10:50:00 / Public hearings

The hearing was organized in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On further improving the environmental impact assessment mechanism."
During the event, key environmental issues of the section of the Qorasuv River under review were discussed. It was noted that over the years, sand and gravel have accumulated in the riverbed, causing the river to change its course, eroding the banks, and posing a threat to residents living nearby. As a result, it was concluded that riverbed cleaning measures are necessary.
It was explained to the public that this section of the river is included in the list of “Areas to be cleaned” by the Government Commission on Flood Prevention, that project documentation has been developed by the project organization, and that public opinion is required in order to formalize the environmental expertise conclusion for the project. It was emphasized that the riverbed cleaning works would enhance public safety and improve the local environmental situation.
At the end of the public hearing, participants expressed support for the project, with 12 people approving the necessity of riverbed cleaning works.
Additionally, on April 2 of this year, experts from the State Center for Environmental Expertise conducted on-site studies of the projects by LLC “NOMDANAK SAXOVATI” and LLC “CRUSH TECH,” which aim to extract sand and gravel materials accumulated in the Boshqizilsoy streambeds in the Parkent district.
Based on the submitted projects, proposals to widen the streambeds were approved in order to safely manage spring and summer flood flows and to prevent emergency situations related to potential flooding. Clarifications were also provided regarding compliance with the requirements of environmental expertise conclusions.
