Delegation of the Center Studied Türkiye’s EIA Practices in the Infrastructure, Transport, and Energy Sectors

During the first half of the day, the delegation visited the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, where participants familiarized themselves with EIA practices for large-scale water management and hydraulic engineering projects.
In the afternoon, working meetings were held at the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as well as at the General Directorate of Highways. Participants learned about the procedures, methodologies, and practical approaches used in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments for transport, infrastructure, and road development projects.
Alongside the delegation from Uzbekistan, representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan are also taking part in the study visit, together with representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and other international organizations.
Studying Türkiye’s experience in applying EIA procedures to infrastructure and energy projects will contribute to the further improvement of the national environmental assessment system and strengthen regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
