In particular, public hearings were held in the “Bunyodkor” mahalla of Navoi city regarding projects for establishing salt packaging workshops and the production of polypropylene bags, implemented by the joint-stock company “NAVOIYDONMAXSULOTLARI”.
During the hearings, project documentation was reviewed, and potential environmental impacts of the production activities were discussed, including waste management and compliance with sanitary standards. Specialists from the Navoi regional branch of the State Environmental Expertise Center assessed the compliance of the enterprises with environmental requirements and examined in detail the production stages and technological processes.
Public hearings were also held in the “Bogishamol” mahalla of Karmana district regarding a project to establish a flour and bran production workshop, implemented by “NAVOIY PREMIUM MILL” LLC. Local residents, representatives of relevant organizations, and project initiators participated in the discussions. Key topics included job creation, supply of high-quality products to the local market, and reducing negative environmental impacts.
In the “Hayot” mahalla of Navoi city, public hearings were conducted on a project for establishing a stone processing workshop, implemented by “RITUAL NAVOIY” LLC. Particular attention was paid to waste management, reduction of dust and noise levels, and strict compliance with sanitary requirements.
Additionally, public hearings were held on one of the region’s major infrastructure projects — the construction of a 500 kV power transmission line between the Navoi Thermal Power Plant and the “Beshkent” substation. This project is being implemented in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 11, 2024, and aims to attract foreign investment into the energy sector and promote the development of renewable energy sources.
During the discussions, it was noted that the implementation of this project will ensure stable electricity supply for the population and industrial enterprises, enhance the reliability of the power system, improve production efficiency, and strengthen the region’s energy security. At the same time, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was conducted, and measures were identified to minimize potential negative impacts.
As part of the public hearings, participants expressed their opinions and proposals on all projects, including issues related to environmental safety, protection of atmospheric air, land, and water resources.
Following the hearings, specific recommendations were provided to enterprises and project initiators on reducing environmental impact, strengthening environmental protection measures, and ensuring strict compliance with the requirements and conditions set forth in the state environmental expertise conclusions.
As noted by experts, conducting such public hearings plays an important role in ensuring transparency of investment and infrastructure projects, taking public opinion into account, and maintaining environmental sustainability.
