In modern conditions, the importance of environmental education raises no doubts. In many countries, it has become one of the priority areas of the education and upbringing system. In the Republic of Uzbekistan, state policy in this sphere is also being implemented consistently and systematically.
Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Nature Protection” establishes the mandatory teaching of ecology in all types of educational institutions. In this regard, the main goal of environmental education is to develop a conscious attitude toward environmental protection among all segments of the population, especially among schoolchildren and students.
By the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 15, 2025, No. PP-184 “On Approval of the Concept for Raising Environmental Culture of the Population until 2030,” this Concept was approved as an important strategic document in this field. The goal of the Concept is to form and develop environmental knowledge, awareness, and culture among the younger generation, to effectively organize the educational process, and to widely promote a culture of “green” consumption among the population.
In addition, Resolution No. PP-110 dated March 25 of the current year, adopted within the framework of the nationwide project “Eco-Culture” and aimed at accelerating the development of environmental education, science, and awareness, has brought reforms in this area to a new stage. The document is aimed at forming environmentally friendly habits among the population, improving the education system based on international standards and environmental norms, as well as training, retraining, and advanced qualification of specialists.
Currently, the Center for State Environmental Expertise, along with organizations within the system of the National Committee for Ecology, in connection with Environmental Knowledge Day (April 15), is implementing large-scale activities aimed at raising public awareness in the field of environmental legislation.
