Railway Wagon Loading and Unloading Terminal Project

Public hearings were conducted on a project to organize services for loading and unloading railway wagons at the following address: Urgench district, Tandirchi mahalla, 1546 Temir Yo‘lak Street.

According to the project, the total area of the facility will be 3,800 m². During implementation, it is предусмотрено to prevent the cutting of existing trees and shrubs, collect domestic wastewater in a concrete storage well with subsequent transportation by specialized vehicles to wastewater treatment facilities. Waste removal will be carried out under a contract with a specialized sanitary cleaning organization.

In accordance with the list approved by Resolution No. 541 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 7, 2021, this type of activity falls under Category III. Currently, an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being developed, which will be submitted for state environmental review in the установленном порядке.

Individual Residential Housing Construction Project

Public hearings were also held on a project involving the demolition of existing buildings and structures and the construction of individual residential houses in their place at the following address: Urgench district, Ravot mahalla, 12 Registan Street.

The total project area is 12,850 m², with a building footprint of 3,933 m². The territory is fully fenced. The project предусматривает measures to prevent damage to green spaces, collect wastewater in a special concrete storage well, and remove waste on a contractual basis. Landscaping of the area, planting of ornamental greenery, and the use of solar panels are planned.

This type of activity also falls under Category III. An Environmental Impact Statement is being prepared for the project with subsequent submission for state environmental review.

Internal Road Construction Project

Public hearings were held in the Galaba mahalla of Urgench district regarding a project proposed by citizen D. Bakhshiyev to fill an unusable internal drainage network (collector) and construct an internal road 0.3 km in length to provide entry and exit access to the mahalla.

The project aims to improve intra-mahalla road infrastructure. During implementation, measures are planned to prevent the cutting of trees and shrubs, reduce dust formation by watering roads during construction, and avoid damage to existing trees.

According to the current classification, this activity falls under Category III. An Environmental Impact Statement is being developed for the project with subsequent submission for state environmental review.

Results of the Public Hearings

During the hearings, the projects were comprehensively discussed. The participants recognized the possibility of their implementation provided that measures to mitigate environmental impact are developed and implemented and that established environmental standards are strictly observed.
