🔰 This document outlines safety requirements for handling radioactive waste generated during the operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, small modular nuclear reactors, research nuclear reactors, and other nuclear facilities.
✅ The following safety requirements must be observed when handling radioactive waste:
🔹 continuous individual monitoring of employee radiation doses;
🔹 classification of radioactive waste based on their activity levels;
🔹 use of protective and engineering barriers to prevent radiation release from waste;
🔹 provision of personal protective equipment and dosimetric monitoring tools for employees.
📝 The form of radiation monitoring for radioactive waste handling must be defined in the facility’s design documentation and included in its operational documents.
📃 Operating organizations must develop operational documents, including instructions and manuals for work involving radioactive waste.
🔗 Reports must include established norms for radioactive waste generation during the use of atomic energy, including the planned annual volumes of such waste.
