On September 8 of this year, at approximately 16:10, in Tashkent city, Chilonzor district, Tirsakobod street, at the construction site of the new residential complex “Dombirobod Residence,” a tower crane collapsed during installation works.
According to preliminary investigations, the installation company failed to comply with technical requirements: the crane’s support legs were not properly fixed to the base. During movement to install the next section, the crane tilted to one side, which caused two unsecured legs to lift off the ground, resulting in the crane falling.
As a consequence of the accident, the crane operator inside the cabin died from a severe impact. In addition, two other workers assisting in the installation sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.
Currently, the Tashkent city department of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety has formed a commission of experts to conduct a technical investigation of this group accident and to determine all circumstances of the incident.
