On July 17 of this year, the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety held an extended-format discussion on the upcoming “Uzbekistan FIRST Webinar” (Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology), which is being organized in collaboration with the U.S.-based company Advanced Systems Technology and Management (AdSTM).

Key elements of the webinar were reviewed in detail, including:
– the topics scheduled for each day;
– U.S. legislation in the field of nuclear energy;
– the two-step licensing process for constructing new nuclear power plants;
– application review procedures by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission;
– timeline, technical capacity, and qualified personnel requirements;
– session format, total number of sessions, and duration of each;
– interpretation and explanatory support;
– use of Zoom as the technical platform.
Uzbekistan’s proposals for the sessions were also presented. As a result of the discussion, it was agreed that the three-day webinar would be held in August 2025.
