Dildora Umurzoqova, Chief Specialist of the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety at the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, participated in the seminar to study the activities of women in the nuclear sector in Central Asia and gain insights from the experiences of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) member states. The event included female experts from Central Asia, the United States, and three representatives from the IAEA. The seminar was opened by Ms. Margarita Kalinina-Pohl, Head of Nuclear Security at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). The main objective of the event was to support and expand the opportunities for women working in nuclear, radiological, and related safety fields under the CANWN (Central Asia Nuclear Women Network), and to explore the experience of IAEA member states. The knowledge, skills, and experiences gained from this event will contribute in the future to supporting Uzbek women working in facilities utilizing nuclear energy and in fields related to nuclear, radiological, chemical, and biological safety. It will help promote women's involvement in the nuclear sector, study international best practices, and foster the training of qualified personnel in the field of nuclear and radiological safety.
