DRAFT LAW ON THE MANAGEMENT OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE

The purpose of this draft law is to regulate relations in the field of radioactive waste management and to protect the life, health, and property of the population, as well as the environment, from the harmful effects of radioactive waste on present and future generations.
It is worth noting that the draft law is being developed based on the requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and by studying the legislation and best practices of leading countries.
The draft law includes legal norms covering the objectives and principles of legal regulation in the field of radioactive waste management, safety requirements, the roles and powers of state bodies implementing national policy in this area, as well as provisions related to the siting, design, construction, commissioning, operation, decommissioning of radioactive waste facilities, and international cooperation in this domain.
