REGIONAL COOPERATION ON REDUCING CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL, RADIOLOGICAL AND NUCLEAR (CBRN) THREATS

The meeting focused on reducing CBRN risks in Central Asia, particularly in Uzbekistan, enhancing regional cooperation, and building capacities in this area. Both parties emphasized the importance of implementing effective strategies against CBRN threats and noted that this initiative contributes not only to risk mitigation but also to promoting peace and stability.
Projects under the EU’s CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative include capacity building for national experts, organizing specialized training, and developing comprehensive strategies for the effective management of CBRN risks and threats. These efforts are tailored to the specific needs of Central Asian countries and aim to integrate advanced European practices.
The meeting also explored opportunities to improve CBRN resilience, provide technical assistance, exchange knowledge and experience, and implement joint initiatives. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union to ensure regional stability and security through effective management of CBRN threats.
