Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Following the recent incident on Glinka Street in the Yakkasaray District, comprehensive assessments are underway across Tashkent City to inspect the structural condition of subterranean gas mains, identify engineering hazards at an early stage, and prevent the recurrence of similar emergencies.

The briefing brought together the Head and Deputy Head of "Energoinspeksiya", the leadership of the Tashkent City Directorate of "Energoinspeksiya", the First Deputy Chairman of JSC "Hududgazta’minot", executive leadership of the "Hududgaz Poytaxt" gas supply branch, and senior engineering personnel.

During the ongoing diagnostics and surveillance rounds, technical teams audited 1,012.65 km of Tashkent City’s total 2,194.98 km underground gas distribution network, identifying 43 methane leakage points. Operational maintenance crews have successfully mitigated and repaired 39 of these leaks.

The presentation centered on reviewing pipeline structural integrity, implementing accelerated detection and repair methodologies for fugitive gas leaks, executing preventative maintenance schedules, and enforcing zoning and safety regulations across designated pipeline protection corridors.

At the conclusion of the session, operational agencies defined binding joint priorities to tighten surveillance protocols, reinforce risk mitigation barriers across underground gas assets, resolve all outstanding network defects, and prevent future industrial incidents.
