🏭 State supervision in the field of industrial safety is carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic. Oversight covers hazardous production facilities, mining enterprises, blasting operations, pressure equipment, lifting machinery, gas supply systems, and other high-risk technical facilities.
The main areas of industrial safety management include the registration of enterprises, technical inspections and expert assessments, accident prevention, organization of industrial safety control systems, personnel training, and emergency preparedness.
☢️ State policy and regulatory oversight in the field of radiation and nuclear safety are implemented by the State Agency for Nuclear and Radiation Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kyrgyzstan does not operate a nuclear power plant. However, sources of ionizing radiation are widely used in medicine, industry, scientific research, and geology.
Therefore, licensing and accounting of radioactive sources, radiation monitoring, dosimetric control, the safe storage of radioactive waste, and the management of uranium mining residues (uranium tailings) constitute key areas of state supervision.
Kyrgyzstan closely cooperates with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to implement international standards in radiation and nuclear safety.
Kyrgyzstan's experience demonstrates that effective management of industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of hazardous industrial facilities, protecting the environment, and safeguarding public health.
