State control in this area is carried out by the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The main objective is to ensure radiation safety, prevent the illegal circulation of ionizing radiation sources, and protect public health and the environment.
Today, more than 200 organizations in our republic are engaged in activities involving about 3,000 ionizing radiation sources. Additionally, over 900 entities possess more than 2,700 X-ray machines.
X-ray equipment plays a crucial role in the medical field by improving the efficiency of disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as in industry and other sectors by enhancing quality control processes. At the same time, since these devices are classified as sources of ionizing radiation, their use must be carried out in strict compliance with radiation safety requirements.
During inspections conducted by the Committee, it was revealed that over 300 entities have been using approximately 1000 X-ray machines without the appropriate permits.
During 2025–2026, more than 450 control measures were carried out in this area. As a result, economic fines totaling over 10.2 billion soums were imposed on entities operating without appropriate permits in violation of legal requirements.
As a reminder, in accordance with the requirements of the Law "On Licensing, Permitting and Notification Procedures", the use of X-ray equipment without an appropriate permit results in an economic fine on legal entities equal to 150 times the Base Calculating Amount (BCA).
The Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety urges all state and non-state medical institutions, dental clinics, and other business entities using X-ray equipment to bring their operations into compliance with legal requirements.
Compliance with radiation safety requirements is not only a legal obligation but also a vital factor in reliably protecting the life and health of medical staff, patients, and the public.
