Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan

These field exercises were the logical conclusion of a year of fruitful cooperation, including training sessions and discussions held between the ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan and European Union experts.

🎯 The main objective of the exercises: To improve interagency and regional coordination in preventing and mitigating the consequences of possible attacks using chemical and radiological substances during major public events. The exercises also aimed at resource management and sharing the best practices of EU member states in this field.

👥 Specialists from the following agencies practically tested their preparedness and rapid response capabilities during the exercises:

• National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan

• Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety

• Ministry of Internal Affairs

• Ministry of Defense

• Ministry of Emergency Situations

• Ministry of Health

• Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations

🌐 International attention and participation: The event was attended by the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Viktor Borecky, as well as high-ranking guests and experts from the European Commission, media representatives, the UN, and other international organizations. In particular, the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Mr. Toivo Klaar, noted in his speech that today's field training is the result of the hard work of professionals in the field. He emphasized that this event is a clear manifestation of the results achieved within the framework of the summit between the EU and Central Asian countries held in Samarkand in April 2025, as a consequence of the large-scale reforms implemented by H.E. the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

🤝 Through joint efforts, it is crucial not only to strengthen national capacity but also to develop long-term regional cooperation and build a solid foundation for a safer and more sustainable future in Central Asia.
