🌐 A Significant Step on the International Stage: Uzbekistan Presented Its First National Report on Nuclear Safety

Historical Process and Recognition On the second day of the meeting, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented its first National Report on obligations arising from the Convention to the international community 📝. IAEA Member States warmly welcomed Uzbekistan’s accession to the Convention and expressed their support for the safe and successful implementation of the country's nuclear program. 🤝
Note: The Republic of Uzbekistan joined this Convention based on the Presidential Decree No. 82 dated February 28, 2025. The document entered into force for our country on July 13, 2025.
🎤 Statement by the IAEA Director General In his opening remarks, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi emphasized that international commitment to high levels of nuclear safety is particularly relevant today: "The issue of managing unprecedented circumstances affecting the safe operation of nuclear facilities has become especially important recently. It is crucial to keep the goals and objectives of the Convention in mind during these complex times when the safety of nuclear power plants is once again in the public spotlight."
Furthermore, Mr. Grossi specifically mentioned the countries that have joined the Convention since the last meeting three years ago, including Uzbekistan. He expressed his hope that this step would significantly contribute to radiation and nuclear safety, regulatory infrastructure, and the country's institutional framework.
