Uzbekistan’s delegation received a ceremonial welcome at Tashkent International Airport following its successful performance at the 5th Asian Para Games, held in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by government officials, representatives of ministries and agencies, heads of sports organizations, athletes’ families, and members of the public. The delegation members were congratulated on their outstanding achievements at the Games.
During the ceremony, a congratulatory message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the country’s para athletes was read aloud. The message highlighted the athletes’ determination, resilience, and skill, as well as their achievements in representing Uzbekistan with distinction on the international stage.
Athletes, coaches, and parents also addressed the gathering, sharing their views on ongoing efforts to develop para sports in Uzbekistan, provide the necessary training conditions, and support athletes competing internationally.
At the 5th Asian Para Games, Uzbekistan’s delegation won 45 gold, 49 silver, and 51 bronze medals – 145 medals in total, securing third place in the overall medal standings. This marked the first time Uzbekistan had finished among the top three in the history of the Asian Para Games.
The achievement represents Uzbekistan’s best-ever performance at the Games. Previously, the delegation’s highest finish was fifth place, recorded in South Korea in 2014.
This success once again demonstrated the tangible results of systematic para athlete training, support for coaches, and continued development of sports infrastructure.
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and specialists of Uzbekistan’s delegation on this historic achievement!
