Uzbekistan’s delegation continues to deliver strong results at the 20th Asian Games, currently underway in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Uzbek athletes have so far won 56 medals: 16 gold, 21 silver, and 19 bronze. Uzbekistan currently ranks fourth in the overall medal standings.
The country’s 16 gold medals have come across a range of sports, including several particularly notable achievements:
• Vladimir Svechnikov won gold in the men’s 10m air pistol event, setting a new Asian Games record with 244.3 points. The victory marked Uzbekistan’s first Asian Games gold in the discipline in 32 years.
• Sharifa Davronova won the triple jump with a result of 14.35 metres, becoming a two-time Asian Games champion. She also claimed gold at the 2023 Asian Games.
• Shahzod Nurmatov and Sobirjon Safaraliyev won gold in the LM2x rowing event. Following their World Championship victory earlier this year, they have now also become Asian Games champions.
• Akbar Jo‘rayev claimed gold in the men’s 110 kg weightlifting category, while Barnoxon Sayfullayeva became the Asian Games champion in the high jump.
These achievements are the result of years of hard work, discipline, and determination by our athletes.
Uzbekistan’s athletes are once again making their mark on the Asian sporting stage.
