Uzbekistan’s chess players who represented the country at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand received a ceremonial welcome in the capital.
 

The welcoming ceremony at Tashkent’s Northern Railway Station brought together representatives of government organizations and the sports sector, young people, chess fans, members of the media, and the wider public.
 

This year’s Olympiad became one of the largest events in the history of world chess, bringing together 397 teams from 205 countries and 1,970 chess players in Samarkand. As the host nation, Uzbekistan was represented by six teams.
 

Members of all teams that represented Uzbekistan at the Olympiad, along with coaches and delegation representatives, were welcomed at the ceremony. Their performances in Samarkand, achievements, and contribution to strengthening the international standing of Uzbekistan’s chess school were recognized.
 

The biggest achievement of the Olympiad was Uzbekistan winning the Olympic championship for the second time. The results of the women’s teams, other Uzbek squads, and players who earned individual prizes further added to the overall success of the national delegation.
 

The welcoming ceremony in the capital became a fitting continuation of this major celebration of chess. The players were greeted with national flags, applause, and warm congratulations.
