Uzbekistan’s experience recognized within the UN Volunteers Programme

The prestigious event, organized within the framework of “2026 — International Year of Volunteers,” was actively attended by the delegation of Uzbekistan led by Shirin Abidova, Advisor to the Director of the Youth Affairs Agency.
During the meetings, particular attention was given to the priority objectives for developing the volunteer movement outlined in the “Youth of New Uzbekistan — 2030” Strategy initiated by the President of Uzbekistan. In particular, practical steps aimed at bringing volunteerism closer to communities through the mahalla system and engaging young people in international projects were presented.
It was also emphasized that volunteerism is not only a form of civic engagement, but also one of the most effective tools for strengthening youth leadership potential and investing in human capital. In turn, T. Kurbanov highly praised Uzbekistan’s experience in the region and noted that cooperation within the fully funded programme contributes to strengthening the country’s position on the global volunteerism map.
