JICA Projects Expand Within the Framework of Sustainable Uzbekistan–Japan Partnership

On September 5 this year, Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Gulamov met with the head of the representative office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Yoshibumi Bito at the MIIT.
The total portfolio of JICA projects in Uzbekistan is $5.5 billion and covers 50 projects in the fields of energy, agriculture and water management, healthcare, infrastructure, education and other areas. In 2025, in order to accelerate projects in the fields of energy, transport, development of free economic zones, education, tourism and agriculture, 9 groups of JICA consultants and missions arrived in our country to assist in the preparation of concepts and pre-project documentation.
During the talks, the prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of healthcare, infrastructure, industry, as well as further development of projects aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, education and increasing human capital were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the issues of enhancing investment cooperation and attracting additional resources to the economy of Uzbekistan.
