Uzbekistan and China Expand Cooperation in Metro and Railway Transport Sectors

On August 22, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov and Deputy General Director of the Chinese company Tianjin Rail Transit Group, Ma Yunkan.
The parties discussed promising projects in the development of the metro and railway transport. The Chinese side expressed its interest in participating in the reconstruction of existing lines of the Tashkent Metro as well as in the construction of new routes.
It was emphasized that the implementation of these projects will contribute to further modernization of the country’s transport infrastructure and provide the population with convenient and modern transport services.
In addition, the parties reviewed priority areas of cooperation and, along with the intention to continue a consistent dialogue, agreed on the initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
