Briefing on Transport Issues, Regional Investment Programs, and Development of Special Economic Zones

The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade held a briefing dedicated to the results of the implementation of projects in the field of transport and logistics, the execution of regional investment programs, and the outcomes of the work carried out for the development of industrial zones in Uzbekistan in 2023 and January 2024. Representatives of central media and responsible employees of the Ministry participated in the event.
During the briefing, details of the work carried out in the field of implementing investment projects in the automotive, railway transport, and aviation sectors were disclosed. In particular, the organization of bus communication with 22 countries of the continent was noted, the delivery of 1,169 buses to the country last year, and the issuance of almost 200,000 permits for freight transportation in cooperation with competent authorities from 33 countries around the world.
Work within the second phase of the project for the construction of the Tashkent city ground metro line has been completed, with 7 new stations opened, and the total length of the metro now stands at 73.05 km. The country's enterprises produced about 600 railcars, including gondola cars, mineral carriers, grain carriers, cement carriers, and tankers.
In the field of air transport, 14 airlines operate in the country, including 11 private airlines. In 2023, the country's airlines performed 44,276 flights, which is 39% more than the previous year's figure.
Experts from the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade also spoke about the 7,656 projects implemented in 2023, worth $11.6 billion, within the framework of regional investment programs. The share of implemented projects in the industrial sector was 31.3% (4,419 projects), in the services sector – 52.7% (7,437 projects), and in the agricultural sector – 16% (2,264 projects). The focuses for 2024 were announced: manufacturing – 2,807 projects, agriculture – 945 projects, services – 3,904 projects.
In a similar manner, the results of the development of industrial zones in Uzbekistan were reviewed.
