On the final day of the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF), organized under the coordination of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a roundtable was held with the support of the Uzbekistan–Germany Council of Investors and Entrepreneurs.

Participants discussed the expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships, the growing volume of bilateral trade, and promising joint projects.

Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of the Board of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC), shared that as part of the company’s 2030 development strategy, construction of the third copper concentrator is nearing completion. Many German companies are involved in completing this construction project.

According to Olaf Schmidt, Head of International Mining Operations at Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH, the global mining industry - particularly in Central Asia - is moving toward compliance with international standards.

“These standards are essential for full participation in the global market. It is necessary to focus on modernization and advanced technologies, which are now relevant on a global scale,” he noted.

Ekaterina Galitsyna, Director of Business Development at KfW IPEX-Bank, spoke about a new financial instrument launched last year.

“The German government has created a special raw materials instrument to support the raw materials sector, managed by KfW. These are projects from the list of critical materials, and the fund can invest between 50 and 100 million euros - provided there is involvement, in one form or another, of German or European investors,” Galitsyna explained.

Bakhodir Alimov, Managing Director of the Transformation Office and Head of the NBU Representative Office in the UAE, emphasized the significant potential for attracting investment into renewable energy sources. He also highlighted other key sectors, including agribusiness, IT, and tourism.

Uzbekistan is a bridge between East and West. We are located at the very heart of the Silk Road. In this regard, we have many projects focused on the development of cross-border corridors, construction of railways, and highway infrastructure,” Alimov added.

During the session, participants engaged in discussions, answered questions, and exchanged views. Particular attention was paid to identifying areas for further strengthening bilateral cooperation and overcoming administrative barriers hindering effective interaction.
