A series of events took place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, aimed at enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic.
In particular, the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic included a roundtable discussion with representatives from the Czech business community, as well as several bilateral meetings with the leaders of prominent Czech companies. Additionally, negotiations took place with the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
The delegations from the two countries were led by Akram Aliyev, the Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Martin Frelich, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
As part of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, reports were presented by the heads of relevant ministries, departments, and industry associations responsible for implementing existing agreements.
Each stage of the project was analyzed in detail, effective solutions were developed to expedite successful implementation, deadlines were established, and responsible individuals were assigned.
The parties also assessed the current status and future prospects for developing partnership relations between the two countries. They identified targets for mutual trade indicators, investment attraction, and industrial cooperation.
There are 44 companies with Czech capital operating in Uzbekistan. The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic has increased sixfold over the past seven years, reaching $434.6 million by the end of 2024.
More than 20 prominent Czech companies, including S-I Industries, Kompelson, Diamo, Doctor Muller Pharma, Era, Pragoimex, SAZ, Skoda Transportation, Zimatechnik, and ZVVZ Engineering, participated in a roundtable discussion. During this event, the potential of Uzbekistan's economic sectors was showcased, and specific investment initiatives and project proposals were presented in various fields, including transportation, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, food production, agriculture, leather manufacturing, tourism, and education.
At the subsequent negotiations in the G2B format, entrepreneurs had the opportunity to discuss the specifics of collaboratively implementing both current and new mutually beneficial projects and trade agreements.
Following the visit, several agreements were established with Czech companies. The Protocol from the meeting of the Uzbek-Czech Intergovernmental Commission and the Agreement between the Agency for Technical Regulation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Czech Office for Standardization, Metrology, and Testing were signed.
