On March 15 of this year, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov held discussions with Arman Shakkaliev, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed the implementation of existing bilateral agreements and outlined further steps to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the countries.
Laziz Kudratov expressed high appreciation for the opening of the Kazakh products pavilion at the Termez International Trade Centre. This event occurred during Arman Shakkaliyev's visit to Uzbekistan. Kudratov conveyed his confidence in the pavilion's successful operations and noted the significant interest it has generated among Afghan businesses.
Consistent growth in mutual trade has been observed. In 2024, the trade turnover volume reached nearly $4.3 billion, driven by an increase in exports of food products, textiles, non-ferrous metals, chemical products, and plastic goods. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to implementing a series of measures aimed at increasing trade volumes, eliminating barriers, and enhancing conditions for the mutual supply of products.
The scope of investment interactions is broadening. Currently, there are 1,042 enterprises with Kazakh capital operating in Uzbekistan, the majority of which are involved in wholesale and retail trade, IT services, construction, financial and insurance activities, and real estate operations. Simultaneously, over 4,500 companies with Uzbek capital are registered in Kazakhstan. An agreement has been established to enhance mechanisms for systemic support for entrepreneurs on a reciprocal basis.
Following the meeting, both parties signed a program aimed at increasing trade turnover between the two countries to $10 billion by 2030. They also approved a schedule for mutual visits by the heads of regions from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in 2025.
