Uzbekistan – Slovakia: A Strong Potential for Enhanced Cooperation

On December 14, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with Viktor Boretsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The dialogue, conducted in a constructive manner, focused on prospects for increasing bilateral trade and expanding industrial cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on key sectors such as agriculture and the agro-industrial complex, automotive and mechanical engineering, textiles, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and tourism.
Background: Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Slovakia grew by 83% last year. Uzbekistan is home to 20 companies with Slovak investment, primarily operating in the fields of information technology, education, construction, logistics, metallurgy, and medical equipment production.
The two sides agreed to reactivate the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, scheduling its next meeting for the second quarter of 2025. They also planned to host a business forum involving representatives from the business communities of both countries.
Discussions also addressed the organization of business missions aimed at exploring investment opportunities and fostering direct connections between potential partners. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to provide comprehensive support for visiting delegations to maximize the effectiveness of mutual exchanges.
Concluding the meeting, both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation and devised a framework for collaboration to ensure the timely implementation of agreed-upon projects and initiatives.
