The Export-Import Bank of China Ready to Support New Industrial Projects in Uzbekistan

On November 21, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation led by Yang Dongning, Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China.
The meeting focused on a detailed review of the progress of ongoing joint projects and identified key opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese delegation expressed appreciation for the Uzbek government’s support of the Bank’s initiatives, particularly its assistance in establishing the first Regional Office in Tashkent. Itt was noted that the regional office in Tashkent oversees the Bank’s operations in eight countries: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.
Key discussions included an assessment of the portfolio of prospective joint projects across sectors such as water management, telecommunications, hydropower, and transportation.
The parties reached a unified position to extend financial support, on a non-sovereign basis, to projects aimed at producing high-demand industrial products in Uzbekistan.
Background: To date, the Export-Import Bank of China has financed 51 projects in Uzbekistan worth over $3 billion. These projects span diverse sectors, including chemical manufacturing, energy, transportation, IT, agriculture, water management, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
