Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission Holds Its 27th Meeting in Fergana

On October 6, 2026, the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation was held in Fergana.
The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, while the Russian delegation was led by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
The participants noted that since the previous meeting, the bilateral cooperation agenda has expanded significantly. The key role of the Commission in implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries was emphasized.
Mutual trade was one of the central issues on the agenda. In the first eight months of 2026, bilateral trade increased by 10 percent and exceeded USD 9 billion.
The growth in mutual supplies is accompanied by deeper industrial cooperation. In 2026, 16 joint production facilities are planned to be commissioned in the chemical industry, agro-processing and metalworking sectors.
In the energy sector, particular attention was paid to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Jizzakh Region, the training of national specialists, and the localization of equipment and services.
Along with economic issues, the participants discussed humanitarian ties and the development of tourism. In 2025, Uzbekistan welcomed nearly 1 million Russian tourists.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia and Uzbekistan for 2026–2040.
