The first Uzbekistan–South Africa Business Forum was held in Johannesburg on 22 September 2026, bringing together representatives of government agencies, business associations and the business communities of both countries.
Representatives of more than 60 companies and organisations attended the forum. Discussions focused on opportunities to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation, strengthen direct business ties and implement joint projects.
Mining, agricultural processing, energy, automotive manufacturing, textiles, information technology and tourism were identified as promising areas for cooperation. Particular attention was given to establishing joint production facilities and value chains, as well as expanding mutual access to markets in Central Asia and Africa.
Bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of the forum covered product supplies, the development of logistics and customs infrastructure, investment attraction and support for exporters entering the two countries’ markets.
The forum concluded with agreements to advance practical cooperation, expand direct contacts between business communities and organise reciprocal business missions.
Participants also supported holding the Uzbekistan–South Africa Business Forum regularly as a platform for promoting new trade and investment initiatives.
