Uzbekistan and South Africa Expand Trade and Investment Cooperation

Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held a videoconference with Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of the Republic of South Africa Parks Tau.
The parties discussed the expansion of trade, economic, investment and industrial cooperation, as well as prospects for implementing joint projects in priority sectors.
Particular attention was paid to the preparation of a business mission of around 50 Uzbek companies to Johannesburgthis autumn and the organization of targeted B2B meetings with South African businesses.
The parties also discussed the establishment of an Intergovernmental Commission, the preparation of agreements on trade and investment protection, as well as the launch of work on a Preferential Trade Agreement.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue the practical development of joint initiatives and form a portfolio of promising projects.
